Pokemon Black and White for the Nintendo DS was released today in North America. Pokemon Black and White takes place in a region far from the others, known as Unova (Isshu in Japanese, derived from the characters "one kind"), which is modeled after New York City. You start off in a small town called Kanako Town, and much like the other games, you have two main goals: to become the Pokemon master, and to stop an evil organization from their devious plans.
Pokemon Black and White comes with some amazing new features, introducing 155 new (mostly overpowered) Pokemon. Black and White has also improved the visuals from the previous games, as well as the game mechanics. In comparison to the previous games, Black and White is much better in terms of these improvements, but still lack an original storyline, original Pokemon designs (not to mention the poor naming sense in this generation), and still has the same feeling of repetition from the previous series. Nonetheless Black and White's new features and superb visual enhancements still offer lots of fun, and is a great game overall.
Not only do I feel that the Pokemon designs are lacking, but the naming sense is just as ridiculous. For example:
Timburr, Gurdurr, Conkeldurr
Klink, Klank, Klinklang
Foongus, Amoonguss
